What is GenF20 Plus?

GenF20 Plus is an oral supplement marketed to support the body’s own production of human growth hormone (HGH), which naturally declines with age. It is sold without a prescription. It does not contain HGH and is not a medical HGH replacement.

GenF20 Plus benefits the manufacturer claims

The product is marketed for:

  • energy and vitality
  • body composition
  • muscle tone and recovery
  • visible signs of aging
  • sleep and mood

These are marketing claims. The study and evidence sections below explain what the sources we checked can and cannot support.

GenF20 Plus ingredients

The official GenF20 Plus website (checked 27 September 2026) describes the tablets as an “Enteric Absorption System” with 16 ingredients and lists these amounts:

Ingredient Amount listed What it is
L-arginine 130 mg Amino acid
L-glutamine 115 mg Amino acid
L-glycine 100 mg Amino acid
L-lysine 100 mg Amino acid
L-tyrosine 100 mg Amino acid
Astragalus root extract 60 mg Herbal extract
Deer antler velvet 50 mg Animal-derived ingredient
GABA 50 mg Amino acid / neurotransmitter
Colostrum 50 mg Bovine (cow) first milk
L-valine 40 mg Branched-chain amino acid
Anterior pituitary powder 30 mg Animal-derived glandular ingredient
Phosphatidylcholine 25 mg Phospholipid
L-ornithine 25 mg Amino acid
GTF chromium 0.1 mg Mineral

The official site attributes growth-hormone and anti-aging roles to many of these ingredients. Those descriptions are marketing, not proven effects of GenF20 Plus. Check the current label on the official site for the full list and amounts.

Does GenF20 Plus contain HGH?

No. The official FAQ states that GenF20 Plus “doesn’t contain any real or synthetic HGH.” It also says that HGH taken in tablets or sprays can’t be absorbed into the bloodstream. Real HGH is a prescription medicine given by injection. The brand describes GenF20 Plus as an “HGH releaser” intended to encourage your own pituitary gland to release more growth hormone.

Prescription growth hormone is not a proven anti-aging treatment either. A systematic review in healthy older adults found only small body-composition changes. It also found higher rates of side effects, including swelling, joint pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and breast tissue growth, and concluded GH “cannot be recommended as an antiaging therapy.” For more background, see our explainer: is HGH a steroid?

How GenF20 Plus is claimed to work

The manufacturer’s idea is that a combination of amino acids and other ingredients can encourage the body to release more of its own growth hormone, rather than supplying HGH directly. HGH stimulates the liver to produce IGF-1, which is why the brand’s study measured IGF-1. The official site itself acknowledges that evidence for oral wellness supplements is “not conclusive”, and that its internal customer survey “did not measure for a direct increase in HGH.”

GenF20 Plus tablets vs spray

The official site states that the “GenF20 Plus System” refers to enteric-coated tablets plus an oral spray. Its FAQ adds that the tablets can be bought alone. The manufacturer’s clinical study, testimonials and doctor endorsement all refer to the complete system, not the tablets alone.

The published study describes the liquid used in the trial as containing alpha-GPC, GABA, Mucuna pruriens, moomiyo extract, ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate and several amino acids. The official order page lists packages as “boxes” and does not clearly state whether each box includes the spray. Check what is included before you order, and don’t assume tablet-only results match the study.

The GenF20 Plus clinical study: what it actually found

The official site promotes the headline “GenF20 Plus increased IGF-1 levels by 28% after just 12 weeks” and links to a published paper. We read the full paper: Sonawane et al., Open Access Journal of Clinical Trials, 2015.

Design. Seventy adults aged 35–65 in India, with at least two age-related complaints (memory, libido, energy or sleep), were randomized to the GenF20 Plus tablets and liquid or a placebo for 12 weeks. Sixty-one completed the study: 31 on GenF20 Plus and 30 on placebo.

Main result. IGF-1 rose by an average of 13.5 ng/mL on GenF20 Plus and 6.4 ng/mL on placebo. This difference was not statistically significant.

Where the 28% comes from. In a subgroup analysis added after the study (people aged 40 and over), adjusted IGF-1 changed by 28.57% on GenF20 Plus versus −0.55% on placebo. This was significant only after statistical adjustment for baseline differences. Post-hoc subgroup findings in small samples are hypothesis-generating, not proof.

Everything else. There was no significant difference versus placebo in waist size, BMI, body fat, lean mass, memory, libido, energy or sleep. The authors wrote that GenF20 Plus “may not have delivered the projected efficacy results in this study.”

Funding. The study was run by a contract research organization with funding from DM Contact Management. The authors declared no competing interests. The tablet formula described in the paper also includes Tribulus terrestris and L-isoleucine, which are not on the current website list, so the formula may have changed since the trial.

Evidence boundary

  • Arginine research does not transfer. A small study reported a growth-hormone response after 5–9 grams of oral arginine in healthy men, while GenF20 Plus lists 130 milligrams. See the PubMed record.
  • The one product trial is weak support. Its main outcome was not significant, the positive result came from a post-hoc subgroup, and no outcome people actually notice improved versus placebo.
  • No independent replication. We did not find a second trial of GenF20 Plus by unrelated researchers.
  • Customer reports and survey data describe experience but do not establish efficacy. The official site notes its customer survey did not measure HGH.

Skin and appearance claims

GenF20 Plus has been promoted for skin appearance, including firmer, smoother skin and fewer visible lines. The reasoning is that higher HGH levels support collagen and elastin, the proteins that help keep skin firm and elastic.

The evidence limits are important here:

  • No independent evidence reviewed here shows that GenF20 Plus raises HGH, so any skin benefit that depends on higher HGH is not established for this product.
  • The published trial did not measure skin outcomes such as wrinkles, firmness or elasticity.
  • Skin changes with age, sun exposure, smoking, sleep and many other factors. A supplement is not a substitute for sun protection or advice from a dermatologist.

Treat skin and appearance claims as manufacturer marketing, not demonstrated results.

GenF20 Plus before and after pictures: why they aren’t evidence

Searches for “GenF20 Plus before and after pictures” are common. We have no verified before-and-after data for GenF20 Plus, and we don’t publish customer photos. Before-and-after images can’t tell you whether a change came from the supplement because:

  • there is no placebo comparison, and in the trial, the placebo group also improved on energy, sleep and memory;
  • lighting, posture, camera angle, time of day, tan and hydration change how a body looks;
  • people often start diets, training or better sleep at the same time as a supplement;
  • only the best results tend to be shared.

The controlled trial is the better guide, and it found no difference from placebo in body fat, waist size or lean mass after 12 weeks. Results, if any, vary, and nobody can promise a particular outcome.

GenF20 Plus reviews and Reddit: how to read them

The official site features customer testimonials, and you will find discussion threads on Reddit and other forums. We don’t reproduce user reviews because we can’t verify who wrote them, what else they changed or whether they were incentivized. Both glowing and negative anecdotes are weak evidence. A useful check: does the claim match what the controlled study measured? For energy, sleep, libido and body composition, it did not show a difference from placebo.

GenF20 Plus side effects and safety

In the published trial, 12 adverse events occurred: seven in the GenF20 Plus group and five in the placebo group. Most were digestive (eight hyperacidity cases and two cases of abdominal pain), plus one headache and one skin eruption. All resolved, and no serious events were reported. The official FAQ says there are no known side effects or drug interactions, but also that it “can’t guarantee GenF20 Plus will be safe for you.”

This is general guidance, not medical advice.

Who should not take GenF20 Plus / talk to a doctor first

  • Anyone under 18. The brand’s own FAQ says to check with a doctor before use with children.
  • People who are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding.
  • Anyone with a current or past cancer, a pituitary or hormone-related condition, or who has been prescribed or is being assessed for hormone therapy. GenF20 Plus is not a substitute for medical treatment.
  • People with diabetes or blood sugar problems, because the formula includes chromium and the brand makes blood-glucose claims about it.
  • Anyone taking prescription medication.
  • People with a dairy allergy (colostrum is bovine milk) or who avoid animal-derived ingredients (deer antler velvet and pituitary powder).
  • Competitive athletes. Check with your sport’s governing body, since the formula includes deer antler velvet, which the manufacturer says contains IGF-1.

Stop taking it and seek advice if you notice any reaction.

Product, manufacturer, and trust checks

The official GenF20 Plus website identifies Leading Edge Health Inc. in Victoria, Canada, and Leading Edge Health Ltd. in Limassol, Cyprus. It publishes ingredient amounts, links to the published clinical trial, and states that the “GenF20 Plus System” refers to tablets plus an oral spray.

The brand’s quality FAQ states that production follows cGMP requirements, raw materials are tested for purity, and ingredient Certificates of Analysis can be supplied. The official FAQ also says every box carries a lot number and expiry date. These are manufacturer statements. We have not independently audited the facility or matched a certificate to a purchased bottle.

Dietary supplements are not FDA-approved for effectiveness before sale. FDA facility registration or cGMP compliance concerns manufacturing requirements; it is not evidence that this finished supplement produces the advertised outcome. See the FDA explanation.

Is GenF20 Plus sold at Walmart or Amazon?

Web searches on 27 September 2026 returned GenF20 Plus listings on Walmart.com and Amazon. We could not verify who the sellers are, whether they are authorized by the manufacturer, or whether the stock is genuine and in date. The official guarantee terms are published for orders placed through the brand’s own site. If you decide to buy, the official site is the only source where we could confirm the price and guarantee terms.

Verdict

GenF20 Plus is a non-prescription supplement marketed to support the body’s own growth hormone. The official site publishes ingredient amounts, names the operating companies, links to its published trial and acknowledges that oral-supplement evidence is not conclusive. That trial did not find a significant IGF-1 increase versus placebo overall, and it found no difference in body composition, energy, sleep, memory or libido. The “28%” figure comes from a post-hoc subgroup of over-40s. The arginine research does not transfer to the amount in this product. GenF20 Plus is not a medical HGH replacement, and claims about aging, body composition and skin are not established by the evidence reviewed here.

Pros

  • The official site publishes ingredient amounts
  • The seller identifies the operating entities and contact addresses
  • The manufacturer links to a published, placebo-controlled trial rather than relying only on testimonials
  • The official site acknowledges that oral-supplement evidence is not conclusive
  • 67-day money-back guarantee on official-site orders

Cons

  • The published trial’s main IGF-1 result was not significant versus placebo
  • No difference from placebo in body composition, energy, sleep, memory or libido
  • No independent replication of the trial was located
  • Contains animal-derived and dairy ingredients
  • Not clear from the order page whether each box includes the oral spray used in the trial

FAQ

Does GenF20 Plus really work?

The evidence is limited. In the brand’s published 12-week trial, IGF-1 did not rise significantly compared with placebo overall, and there were no differences in body fat, energy, sleep, memory or libido. A post-hoc analysis in people aged 40 and over found a significant IGF-1 difference, which needs confirming in further research.

Does GenF20 Plus contain HGH?

No. The manufacturer states it contains no real or synthetic HGH. It is an amino-acid-based supplement marketed as an “HGH releaser” that aims to encourage your own growth hormone release. Real HGH is a prescription injection.

What are the ingredients in GenF20 Plus?

The official site lists L-arginine (130 mg), L-glutamine (115 mg), L-glycine, L-lysine and L-tyrosine (100 mg each), astragalus root (60 mg), deer antler velvet, GABA and colostrum (50 mg each), L-valine (40 mg), anterior pituitary powder (30 mg), phosphatidylcholine and L-ornithine (25 mg each) and GTF chromium (0.1 mg).

What is the difference between GenF20 Plus tablets and spray?

The “GenF20 Plus System” is the enteric-coated tablets plus an oral spray. The published trial used both together. The FAQ says the tablets can be bought alone, but the study, testimonials and doctor endorsement refer to the complete system.

Can you buy GenF20 Plus at Walmart or Amazon?

Listings appear on Walmart.com and Amazon, but we could not verify the sellers or whether the stock is genuine and in date. The official guarantee terms are published for orders placed on the brand’s own website, so we recommend buying there.

How much does GenF20 Plus cost?

On 27 September 2026 the official site listed one box (30-day supply) at $69.95, three boxes at $199.95 and six boxes at $349.95, with free shipping to the lower 48 US states. Prices change, so check the official site.

What are the side effects of GenF20 Plus?

In the published trial, adverse events were similar between groups (seven on GenF20 Plus, five on placebo). They were mostly mild digestive complaints such as hyperacidity, and all resolved. Talk to a doctor first if you take medication, have a hormone-related condition, diabetes or a history of cancer, or are under 18.

Are GenF20 Plus before and after pictures reliable?

No. Photos have no placebo comparison and are affected by lighting, posture, diet, training and selective sharing. In the controlled trial, GenF20 Plus did not change body fat, waist size or lean mass more than placebo.
